Zendaya is feeling the love at the Gotham Awards.
The eponymous megastar will receive Gotham’s spotlight tribute for his performance.
Zendaya plays Tashi Donaldson, a tennis phenom turned coach in a complicated relationship with two male tennis players in Luca Guadagnino’s time-jumping spring hit. She was also the producer of this film.
The Spotlight Tribute “recognizes the extraordinary efforts of individuals in film and television who have captivated global audiences.”
In announcing the award, Gotham Film and Media Institute Executive Director Jeffrey Sharp cited Zendaya’s wide range of performance accomplishments. “Tashi Donaldson’s magnetic portrayal of Zendaya in Luca Guadagnino exemplifies the creative excellence that The Gotham celebrates,” he said, adding, “I believe her performance makes her one of the most captivating actors of her generation. given.”
The star, who has already won two Emmys and a Golden Globe for her work on the HBO show, is a contender for several of her films on the awards circuit this season.
Amazon is also nominated for Best Feature in Gothams, by MGM Studios as the show’s 34th edition opens in New York. Several other tribute awards have been announced at the awards, including for Timothée Chalamet and James Mangold for the portrayal of Bob Dylan and the cast of the prison drama.
The Gotham Awards will take place on Monday, December 2nd at Cipriani Wall Street.
