NEW YORK (AP) — A woman who accused the former CEO of the Grammy Awards of sexual assault in 2018 has asked a judge to drop her lawsuit.
The woman made the request in a letter to a judge over the weekend, citing “fear of possible serious harm” if she was forced to remain anonymous. The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan federal court against former Grammy Awards CEO Neil Portnow.
The woman is identified in the lawsuit as an internationally renowned musician who once played at Carnegie Hall. His plea prompted Judge Annalisa Torres to suspend further action in the case on Wednesday, but she has not yet ruled it out.
When the lawsuit was filed in November, Portnow’s spokesman said the claims were “completely false” and “undoubtedly motivated by Mr. Portnow’s compliance with outrageous demands for money and assistance in obtaining residency visas for the plaintiff.” was motivated by denial.”
His attorney declined to comment Wednesday.
The woman had registered a case. Adult Survivors Acta recently expired New York state law that temporarily allows sexual assault victims to sue for damages even if the statute of limitations has expired.
