The BBC has officially unveiled the return of one of Britain’s favorite couples.
The pair are back and ready for an all-new adventure, created by independent studio Aardman Animations, which will premiere on the BBC and BBC iPlayer this Christmas, as well as worldwide this winter. Will turn to Netflix.
The new film, titled, will be 70 minutes long and will feature the return of iconic supervillain Feathers McGrath, who returns for revenge after appearing in the 1993 Oscar-winning short.
In, Gromit becomes increasingly concerned with Wallace’s reliance on his inventions. Things take a turn for the worst when Wallace’s creation, the “Smart Gnome,” appears to develop an evil mind of its own. “As events begin to spiral out of control, it’s up to Gromit to put aside his shortcomings and the dangerous forces of war, or Wallace may never be reinvented.”
The new and returning cast includes Ben Whitehead, British comedians Peter Kay, Lauren Patel (), Kay Reese Shearsmith (, with cameos by Diane Morgan), Adjoa Andoh (), and Sir Lenny Henry ().
Nick Park, creator and director, says: “I’ve had the idea of a movie about garden gnomes going bad for over a decade, but I’ve never been able to figure out what made them come together. I find that the single most common question I get asked when I meet fans is whether the original antagonists of Penguin Feathers McGraw, Wallace and Gromit from 30 years ago will ever return. ?We enjoyed bringing him back in cameo abilities, but now, three decades later, it felt like the right time.
“We’re hoping this film will appeal to ‘Gnome Noir’ fans everywhere, and when people see what’s been going on since Feathers, they’ll be happy.”
