After the shortened 2022-23 season Saturday Night Live returned barely later than usual to start out the 2023–2024 season.

On November 29, it was announced that alum Kate McKinnon would return to the show as the primary host of the show on December 16, the last show before the summer break, with musical guest Billie Eilish. Previously, Emma Stone hosted a show for the fifth time on December 2 with musical guest Noah Kahan, and on December 9, Adam Driver hosted a show for the fourth time with musical guest Olivia Rodrigo.
Saltburn star Jacob Elordi created his own SNL debut on January 20 with musical guest (i Mean girls star) Renee Rapp. Dakota Johnson and Justin Timberlake were scheduled to seem on the show on January 27. AND Bear star Ayo Edebiri, after winning Emmy and Golden Globe awards, made her hosting debut on February 3 with musical guest Jennifer Lopez.
The host was comedian Shane Gillis SNL on February 24, years after being cut from the show in 2019 for using racist and homophobic slurs during a podcast conversation. He was joined by 21 Savage because the musical guest.
In March, Sydney Sweeney hosted a show on March 2 with musical guest Kacey Musgraves, followed every week later by Josh Brolin and Ariana Grande. On March 30, Ramy Youssef hosted musical guest Travis Scott. April was the primary SNL regular Kristen Wiig joins the Five-Timers Club and Barbie doll Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling will host for the third time.
Dua Lipa will now change into the subsequent host and musical guest of the show, which can happen on May 4.
