Thomas Frank is upbeat about Brentford’s attacking potential next season after beating Luton 5-1 on Saturday.
The Bees clashed twice with Yoane Wissa at Kenilworth Road and Bryan Mbeumo managed to tug the strings as a result of a fluid attack.
Keane Lewis-Potter also got on the scoresheet alongside substitute Kevin Schade, while Mikkel Damsgaard grabbed the eye in a most impressive display in Ivan Toney’s absence.
With Tony keen to maneuver on this summer, the five-goal spree at Luton was a timely example of Brentford having the ability to show there can be life after the expected departure of their talisman.
“We were pretty good offensively,” Frank admitted.
Wesa scored two goals, a spectacular goal. Kane got a goal, Kevin Shead got here off the bench to attain a goal.
“Brian probably must have got a goal, but there have been a minimum of two assists and he was involved in all of the goals, so pleased with that.
“I think it’s promising. I was actually very optimistic going into this season.
“I’m all the time optimistic. Sometimes too optimistic! But I believe it’s good to consider in your players.
“Then we’ve been very unlucky with injuries. You can see when we get our best players back into the team.
Saturday’s comprehensive win extended Brentford’s unbeaten run to five matches and Frank is aiming to end a “difficult season” on a high.
The Bees could be given a boost by Toney’s return to Everton next weekend after he was absent at Luton with an ongoing hip problem.
Frank revealed: “He was very close. If it was a play-off final, which it wasn’t, I’d have played him, but we want him to be perfect and fully fit.
“I meant what I said before, after Sheffield United, I thought he’d be ready for that game. It was very short so I’m sure he’s ready for Everton. I really do. I hope so.”
Meanwhile, Luton boss Rob Edwards admitted there can be no big impact after their second consecutive 5-1 defeat.
Edwards explained.
“I’m not sure it’s going to have much of an impact there and then. That may be the case on Monday. I’ll see how I feel after reviewing things.
“This week we want to show the things we didn’t do well enough and take a look at to place some things right, but at this stage of the season what we can’t do now’s lose people or lose people. Blame on
“I can’t be a different person because we lost a football game.”
