Fox has renewed the crime drama for a fourth season, it has been confirmed.
Along with the renewal, there will be a change in leadership as executive producers and showrunners Miranda Cook and Janine Renshaw will not be continuing in those roles, sources said. Kwok, who created the series, will continue as an executive consultant, sources said, adding that she plans to focus on developing new programming with Warner Bros. Television. The search for a new showrunner is said to be underway, with an announcement expected in the coming weeks.
Based on the original Argentine series, it centers on Thony De La Rosa (Élodie Yung), a Cambodian-Filipino ex-surgeon who is currently working in Las Vegas with her 5-year-old son Luca on an expired visa. And living. Tony earns a living as a cleaning service worker with his sister-in-law, Fiona (Martha Mullen). After witnessing the murder, Thoni is offered a job as both a cleaner and a doctor in a criminal organization that can pay enough to support her son and his family. As a result, Tony begins to lead a double life, keeping secrets from his family, cleaning up crime scenes and avoiding the law.
The cast also includes Elodie Young, Martha Millen, Eva De Dominici, Kate del Castillo, Santiago Cabrera, Sean Liu, Faith Bryant and Sebastian and Valentino LaSalle.
News of the renewal comes just months after the death of one of the show’s stars, Adam Canto. The actor died in January at age 42 of appendiceal cancer (he did not make the diagnosis public).
Fox touts the show as “one of the most diverse series on TV” (the cast includes actors of Cambodian, Filipino, Chinese, Mexican, Argentinian and Chilean descent, among others) and notes that it is a Southeast Asian-led drama series and the first star of Cambodian descent.
This season averaged 3.6 million multi-platform viewers, a lift of +131% from live + same day. The two-hour season 3 finale will air on May 21.
The show is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment. Rose Marie Vega and Paula Suarez are also executive producers. Shay Mitchell and David Dean Portelli are executive consultants.
