Beloved entertainment journalist Sam Rubin died Friday. He was 64 years old.
Ruben reportedly suffered a heart attack at his home TMZ. At that time he was taken by ambulance to UCLA West Hills.
According to Varietythe incident occurred as he conducted his regular Hollywood news segments on KTLA’s 7-9 a.m. “Morning News” program on Fridays.

Sam was a giant in the local news industry and entertainment world, and a fixture on Los Angeles morning television for decades. “His laugh, charming. And caring personality touched all who knew her. Sam was a loving husband and father: the roles he loved most. Our thoughts are with Sam’s family at this difficult time.
Rubin, a graduate of Occidental College in LA, joined KTLA in 1991. He was a staple on the red carpet for years, and hosted the station’s “Live From the Academy Awards” segment. Outside of Hollywood, he has appeared on BBC TV and radio segments and on Channel 9 in Australia.
Among the A-listers he has interviewed are Zendaya, Mariah Carey, Sting, Usher and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
He was one of the founding members of the Broadcast Film Critics Association and hosted his own show, “Hollywood’s Uncensored Sam Rubin,” for 120 episodes.
Rubin received many honors during his career. He was also honored in 2013 by the National Hispanic Media Coalition, receiving its annual Impact Award for Outstanding Integrity in Broadcast Journalism.
Additionally, he was a recipient of the Golden Mic Award, a lifetime achievement award from the Southern California Broadcasters Association, and was named Best Entertainment Reporter by the Los Angeles Press Club.
Reuben is survived by his wife Leslie and their four children.
