Feyenoord manager Arne Slott is a leading candidate to take over as Liverpool manager from Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp announced. He will leave the club at the tip of the season in January and the Reds are making extensive inquiries around a variety of candidates.
The 45-year-old, who led Feyenoord to the 2022-23 Eredivisie title, has emerged as a candidate who matches Liverpool’s criteria.
Feyenoord have won the Dutch Cup this season and are second within the Eredivisie.
Slott’s appointment has not been decided but he has emerged as a strong candidate to succeed Klopp.
He ruled himself out of contention for the Tottenham Hotspur job. Before Ange Postecoglu took over last summer, he’s believed to be of interest to Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Slott became head coach of Feyenoord in December 2020 after leaving AZ Alkmaar, where he began his managerial profession.
A former midfielder, Slott spent his entire playing profession within the Netherlands, making over 100 appearances for each FC Zwolle and NAC Breda.
Xabi Aonso was linked with a Liverpool job but has decided to stay at Bayer Leverkusen, who’ve been crowned German champions.
Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim was one other name heavily linked but is believed to have dropped out of the running.
