Shannen Doherty, like her, frees herself from her material possessions is fighting breast cancer.
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum whose cancer, first diagnosed in 2015, now Stage 4 – she revealed on her podcast, ‘Let’s be clear about Shannen Doherty’ recently that he was eliminating his things in order that his mother would not must handle them after the actress’ death.
“For me, cancer has really forced me to take stock of my life and change my priorities, and right now my priority is my mom,” Doherty, 52, said.
“I don’t want her to have a lot of things to do,” he says The “Bewitched” alum continued. “I don’t want her to have four cabinets full of furniture because I’m obsessed with furniture.”
She jokingly said that it was because of her passion for interior design that she had “accumulated so much crap” over time. And straight away most things are only collecting dust in storage.
“I don’t enjoy it and others don’t enjoy it. Do I really need this? Do I have to have three tables in the dining room?” she noticed. “The answer is no, none of us really need all the stuff we have, and we could all do with downsizing a little and not being a hoarder, which is what I was becoming with all my furniture.”
Doherty initially felt like she was throwing in the towel by selling her belongings, but now she wants to make use of the cash to benefit from the time she has left with her family members.
“You feel like you’re giving up something that was very special and important to you,” she said. “But you know it’s the right decision and that it will give you a sense of peace because you’re helping the people you leave behind have a cleaner and easier transition.”
After Doherty announced her cancer diagnosis in 2015, the disease went away two years later.
In 2020, she revealed that her cancer had returned, and in late 2023, she said that the disease had spread to her bones.
In a December episode of her radio show, Doherty tearfully admitted that after dropped to 92 kilos after chemotherapy, she was pretty sure it was over.
“When I got down to 92 pounds after chemo and was incredibly dehydrated, I still had to get out of bed,” she said on the time.
“My mom [was] he literally tried to get me away from bed and take me to the doctor… At that time, I assumed I wasn’t going to make it.”
