Family member has been running for 22 seasons and it doesn’t appear like Seth MacFarlane has any plans to end the animated series any time soon.
The creator and star of the favored series said recently Los Angeles Times on a latest profile celebrating the show’s twenty fifth anniversary: ”At this point, I don’t see a good reason to stop.”
“People still love it,” he said. “It makes people happy and funds good causes. That’s a lot of wasted money you could be donating to the Rainforest Trust and still be able to go out for dinner that night.”
MacFarlane continued: “There was a time when I thought it was time to end it. At this point we had reached escape velocity. I don’t know if there’s any reason to stop at this point unless people get bored of it. Unless the numbers show that people are just saying, “Eh, we don’t care.” Family member not more.’ But it hasn’t happened yet.”
Family member premiered in 1999 on Fox, but was initially canceled after just two seasons, then made a third season before being canceled for good – or at the very least that is what viewers thought. Thanks to rerun sales on Cartoon Network and DVD, the series was revived and have become a huge success.
Season 4 Family member debuted in 2005 on Fox, where it has aired annually until its current twenty second season.
MacFarlane provides the voices of Peter Griffin, Brian Griffin, Stewie Griffin and Glenn Quagmire; with Seth Green as Chris Griffin and Neil Godman; Alex Borstein voices Lois Griffin, Tricia Takanawa, Loretta Brown and Barbara Pewterschmidt; and Mila Kunis as Meg Griffin.
In November 2022, when the animated series reached 400 episodes, MacFarlane revealed his favorite episode of all time Hollywood reporter.
“An Agatha Christie episode [season nine’s “And Then There Were Fewer”] that is something that stuck with me,” he said on the time. It was definitely fun to do it.”
