Bruce Willis’ oldest daughter, Romer Willis, shared an update on her dementia diagnosis at the premiere of her new movie “My Diverse Party” in Beverly Hills.
“He’s great. Yes, yes, doing well. Thank you so much for asking,” she said Fox News Digital on Wednesday.
“I think what’s been so incredible for me, through this experience, is that my dad is so loving, and it’s evident in the transparency that we share,” she continued. Gone.
“And I think if there’s a way to share our experience that brings hope—whatever comes up as a family—that can make an impact and bring hope to someone else, in this way. Experiencing, then for me, that’s everything.”
Romer, 35, and the rest of his family announced in 2022 that Bruce, 69, was retiring from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia. In February 2023, he would reveal that his condition had worsened and that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
Romer, 61, is one of Bruce’s daughters with Demi Moore. They were married from 1987 to 2000 and are also parents to Scout, 32, and Tallulah, 30.
Bruce also shares daughters Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, 9, with his second wife, Emma Hemingway, 45. The couple has been married since 2009.
Romer became a mother herself when she welcomed daughter Luetta Isley Thomas Willis with fellow singer Derek Richard Thomas in April 2023.
“[They’re] so lovely. They’re the sweetest,” the “Dancing with the Stars” alum said of seeing her parents as grandparents. “Everyone in my family is literally obsessed with her.”
“It’s weird. My mom would be like, ‘You know you should do this to her.’ And I’m like, ‘Actually, based on what I’m reading, you don’t do that anymore.’ But I think there’s a lot more information than that,” he continued.
“But I think what’s amazing is that when you’re in that transition from marriage to motherhood, and you have a really close relationship with your mother, there’s an interesting separation that almost happens when You’re discovering your own path, and it creates an interesting separation because obviously there are things that I take from her that I like, but there are also things that I really like. I want to explore you.
In February, Roemer told the New York Post that Bruce’s “face lights up” when he sees his granddaughter.
“My father is the best example of who he is in real life, his character in ‘Moonlighting.’ [he is] Kind and sweet. And so I feel like that’s really the epitome of who my dad is. And that’s true to this day,” he told The Post exclusively at the time.
“He’s incredibly loving and kind. My dad is exactly why I love my taste in music. [and for] Some of my humor,” he continued. “Both of my parents are pretty crazy.”
“When he sees Luetta, his face lights up,” Roemer said of his famous father. “And I’m so grateful for that kind of mischief and that spark of fun and it doesn’t matter how old I am.”
Bruce’s family also has a “mix” of nicknames as a grandfather.
“It was either Papo or Granddaddy,” she told the Post. “Which I’m a big fan of, because when we were kids we used to call my dad Didio.” Moore, for his part, goes by “Yaya.”
