During a video speech by which she discussed her health, Kate stressed the importance of her and Prince William maintaining a standard family life for his or her children.

“As you can imagine, it took some time. It took me some time to recover from major surgery and be able to start treatment. But most importantly, it took us some time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that was right for them and to assure them that nothing would happen to me,” she said.

Expressing her desire for privacy, she then added: “We hope you will understand that as a family we now need some time, space and privacy before I complete my treatment. My work has always given me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to returning when I can, but for now I must focus on my full recovery.”
