Prince Andrew nearly fell from his horse during a ride near Windsor Castle on Monday morning when his black mare appeared frightened.
The Duke of York’s peaceful ride quickly turned wild when his horse became agitated. The mare whipped her head and reared, throwing King Charles’ younger brother off balance as he struggled to hold onto his reins and avoid falling.
It took the prince a few minutes to calm the horse down and steady himself before he could continue his ride through the Windsor estate near Windsor Castle. The Daily Mail.
The tense moment was captured in shocking photos obtained by The Post and shows how the dramatic situation unfolded.
Unfortunately for the prince, his pony problem pales in comparison to another rough ride he finds himself on: his fight with his brother over finances.
According to a new report from The Sunday Timesthe “lack of intimacy” between Andrew and Charles — stemming from Andrew’s past friendship with late-convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — “has only matured into hostility.”
This “new low in relations”, as the Times puts it, also has everything to do with Charles allegedly trying to cut Andrew off financially and evict him from his home, Royal Lodge – 30 rooms. A lavish $38 million estate with a mansion. Set in 98 acres in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
Home to his grandmother, The Queen Mother, he has lived lavishly on the property since 2003 when he signed a 75-year lease from the Crown Estate, with the condition that he maintain the property. $300 a week in rent, according to the Times.
Although Charles wanted Andrew out of the Royal Lodge, he offered him a new home – a less grand residence that would suit the king’s vision of a “slimmed down” monarchy. That residence was Frogmore Cottage, the former UK residence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Despite Harry and Meghan’s nearly $3 million renovation, Andrew deemed the five-bedroom home too small for his tastes and refused to move out of the Royal Lodge.
In a surprising move, Andrew secured enough money from an unknown financier to allow him to stay at the Royal Lodge. The king has reportedly been left fed up with his disrespectful brother, and the two are “not on speaking terms” amid the financial crisis.
With no sign of a rapprochement on the horizon, Charles and Andrew remain at a standstill. And only during the holidays.
