The price of peacock is increasing.
The NBCUniversal streaming service plans to raise monthly and annual fees for its Peacock Premium and Premium Plus tiers, with changes set to take effect before this summer’s Paris Olympics.
Peacock Premium will increase in price by $2 per month to $7.99, while Premium Plus will increase by $2 to $13.99 per month. Annual fees will increase to $79.99 and $139.99 accordingly.
The price changes will be effective from July 18 for new subscribers and August 17 for existing subscribers. The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics is scheduled for July 26.
The price increase would be the second in as many years for Peacock, which a year ago raised the price of its Premium tier by $1 and the price of its Premium Plus by $2. Premium Plus removes commercials from on-demand entertainment programming, and includes NBC’s live local channels, among other features.
However, the company is betting that it has a stronger value proposition this time around, including the success of its exclusive NFL wild card playoff game, and the upcoming Olympics. The company has revamped its Olympics experience for this year’s games, adding multi-view and a wipe-around program to its roster, as well as a watch party hosted by Alex Cooper.
And Peacock will get another exclusive NFL game next season, when the Eagles and Packers face off on Sept. 6 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
