A historical historical drama depicting the creation of IVF; A thriller series starring Coleman Domingo; An award-winning original crime musical from Jacques Audiard; The second part of the last season of; And the venerable big-screen adaptation of Pulitzer-winning August Wilson’s play are just a few of the new movies and series coming to Netflix in November.
On November 7, the action and mystery drama returns to Netflix. The first half of season four ended with several cliffhangers for the Pogues, most of which should be resolved to some extent in the second half of the season. On Kildare Island, perhaps the biggest bombshell is dropped on Rudy Pankow’s JJ when he discovers that he is not the son of his alcoholic and abusive father, Luke. The cast promises “insanity” so expect some more jaw-dropping revelations.
In a big movie month for Netflix, the streamer releases Jacques Audiard’s potential Oscar contender on November 13. The French film, a musical crime drama starring Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón and Selena Gomez, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, and won the Jury Prize and Best Actress for its female ensemble. won tells the story of a cartel leader (Gascón) who enlists a lawyer (Saldaña) to fake his death so he can live his real life.
New episodes drop on Netflix on November 15, along with the debut of the second three episodes of the martial arts drama’s sixth and final season. In the second part of season six, Miyagi-Do makes his way to Barcelona to fight for his life during the Sekai Taikai Tournament, but Sensi Johnny Lawrence tries to inspire his karate students to fight to become world champions. His hand is full.
On November 22, Netflix is releasing the British historical drama. The film tells the story of the birth of IVF and its journey to becoming a true medical breakthrough in Britain in the 1960s and 1970s. Despite its periodic nature, the topic of IVF is more important than ever, with threats to its use by some right-wing politicians in the US. Ben Taylor directs from a script by writer Jack Thorne.
Also debuting on Nov. 22 is Malcolm Washington’s big-screen adaptation of August Wilson’s 1987 Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Another potential awards contender, the film’s logline reads: Set in Pittsburgh in 1936 after the Great Depression, Docker follows the lives of the Charles family in the Charles family and an heirloom, the family piano, whose Documents family history through Carvers who were slaves of their ancestors. The always excellent Daniel DeWyler leads the cast, along with Samuel L. Jackson and John David Washington, the latter of whom also starred in the play’s Broadway revival. The cast also includes Corey Hawkins, Michael Potts and Ray Fisher. Denzel Washington’s son Malcolm Washington made his feature debut and also wrote the screenplay with Virgil Williams.
In Demand Coleman Domingo appears in the Netflix series, which debuts on the streamer on November 28. In the paranoia-filled conspiracy thriller, the Oscar nominee plays a media pundit who fears he’s being framed for a murder he stumbled upon. The eight-part drama was created by Stephen Belber and also stars Marsha Stephanie Blake, Gabrielle Graham and John Ortiz.
