Netflix CEO Greg Peters believes within the streaming giant. Creative could rely on AI to enhance its storytelling capabilities—but it’s unclear exactly how.
“We believe we have an opportunity to develop and provide new tools for creators to tell their stories in more compelling ways,” Peters told investors in the course of the company’s earnings call on Thursday.
Peters, Conn has been with Netflix since 2008 said the corporate is “well positioned to be at the forefront of adoption” of AI. Saying that the corporate has already been using this technology for 20 years. In one case: His proposed algorithm which suggests latest movies and shows users is perhaps taken with streaming.
“These technologies are the foundation of our recommendation systems that help us find the largest audience for our titles,” Peters said. He added that Netflix plans to proceed developing and improving its AI-powered systems as latest technologies emerge and evolve.
So is AI getting used? To train on – or, some concern, to change – the creative work that goes into producing movies and TV shows? “Storytellers should focus on telling great stories,” Peters said. While this is “incredibly difficult and incredibly complex to deliver compelling stories through film and games alone,” He added, AI “can play a unique and important role in doing so.”
