Liverpool squandered a likelihood to return to the top of the Premier League after drawing one other thriller at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
Manager Jurgen Klopp and his players will wonder how they did not avenge their FA Cup quarter-final defeat last month, paying the price for wasting quite a few possibilities after losing to the hosts for long periods.
Liverpool had only a goal from Luis Diaz and an almost complete advantage in the first half, wherein that they had 15 shots to none from United, whose manager Erik ten Hag was grateful for the visitors’ waste and the save of goalkeeper Andre Onana.

However, Liverpool salvaged a draw they least deserved when Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot six minutes from the end of normal time after Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s late tackle on Harvey Elliott.
Liverpool are currently second behind leaders Arsenal on goal difference, while Manchester City are third, one point behind.
