Manchester City recovered from the frustration of being eliminated by Real Madrid within the Champions League quarter-finals as Bernardo Silva’s late goal secured Chelsea’s place within the FA Cup final at Wembley.
It was redemption for Silva after his missed penalty played a key role in City’s penalty shootout loss to Real.
The Portuguese midfielder scored the winner six minutes from time from a cross from Kevin de Bruyne.
Chelsea might be rueful of wasting quite a few possibilities, just about all of which fell to striker Nicolas Jackson, after one other painful experience at Wembley following their extra-time defeat to Liverpool on penalties within the Carabao Cup final.
Chelsea also feel they’re victims of injustice as they were furious at not being awarded a penalty within the second half when Cole Palmer’s free kick hit Jack Grealish’s hand into the wall, however the video assistant referee ruled there was no foul play.
City remain on the right track to win one other Premier League and FA Cup double and can now face arch-rivals Manchester United or Championship side Coventry City within the final.
More to observe.
