When I got to the recently opened one Hotel BoTree in London I used to be exhausted. It’s not the kind of tiredness that requires a second cappuccino and a brisk walk outside, but the kind of tiredness that cuts deep into your bones and causes you to go to sleep on a 15-minute automotive ride after which wake as much as being shaken by your driver. At least that is what happened to me as I dazedly walked through the place’s vibrant, flower-adorned entrance with my mascara barely askew. But what I appreciated most was the friendly and caring staff who were glad to assist with anything I needed…sometimes, truthfully, even before I knew I needed it. (Shout out to the nice sommelier who brought me snacks and talked me into, you realize, having fun with my lunch as a substitute of mindlessly throwing it into my face while working on my laptop).

I highly recommend breakfast as part of your package, as you may enjoy a chic buffet full of freshly baked pastries and granola bars, freshly squeezed juices, tropical fruits, and a full selection of spreads (hello, tiny jars of Nutella!). You can then complement the menu with a variety of more filling dishes. At night, the same dining space becomes the atmospheric LAVO restaurant, which focuses on Italian cuisine. The offer includes pasta and pizza – each made on site – in addition to delicious seafood and vegetables. However, in the evenings after I eat there, I order salmon, a nutritious salad and ice cream… and let’s just say I ate it and didn’t leave any crumbs.
The dining room is atmospherically lit and frequently quite full, but not in such an amazing way that you could’t hear your mates talking or your personal thoughts. I believe this mood is in some ways typical of the atmosphere of the hotel as an entire: bustling with interesting and well-dressed people, but not overcrowded and stagey. It’s the perfect place to recharge should you’re visiting the area for business (like me) or simply need to calm down in the city center between sightseeing plans. But a word to the clever? Book upfront as from my observations these rooms were well booked.
