Liverpool cannot afford any more slip-ups in the event that they are to keep their title hopes alive, defender Andy Robertson said after Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute to leave Jurgen Klopp’s side in third place with 71 points, level with second-placed Arsenal, who lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa.
With six games left, Manchester City leads with 73 points.
Liverpool, who led 2-2 against Manchester United of their previous league match, also face a tricky task in the Europa League after losing the first leg of their quarter-finals 3-0 at home.
“We definitely have to be excellent from here,” Robertson told reporters. “We cannot drop any more points and let’s have a look at what the other two teams (Manchester City and Arsenal) do. We have to keep a positive attitude. We don’t stop fighting.
“We have to get everyone up in the locker room because there are plenty of people who find themselves down, whether or not they missed a probability, gave the ball away or whatever it was. We pick it up, go again on Thursday and provides it our all.
Liverpool’s next match is against Atalanta on Thursday before returning to league motion against Fulham.
