Mikel Arteta says Arsenal are fascinated with Kylian Mbappe, but he expects the French striker to maneuver elsewhere after leaving Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
Mbappe has told the French club he intends to go away at the end of his contract in June, allowing him to hunt a brand new employer as a free agent.
Real Madrid are believed to be leading the hunt for considered one of the best players in the world as they’ve long been fascinated with the 25-year-old.
A lot of Premier League clubs have also been linked with the move, including Arsenal.
Confirming that Arsenal can be in the race for Mbappe’s signature, Arteta indicated that they were unlikely to have the ability to lure him to London.
“When a player of his caliber comes along, we always have to be part of that conversation,” Arteta said ahead of Arsenal’s game against Burnley. “But it looks different, I would say.”
Mbappe rejected a transfer to Real Madrid in 2022 and was the subject of a record bid from Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal last summer.
The 2018 World Cup winners are yet to search out success in the Champions League, and in 2020, PSG defeated Bayern Munich in the final of the competition.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are expected to search for a brand new striker in the summer after opting to not pursue a major signing in the January transfer window.
Ivan Toney has been heavily linked with a move to London, with Brentford manager Thomas Frank confirming last week that the England international would depart at the end of the season.
