Kim Kardashian received a mixed reaction from the crowd at the Tom Brady Roast on Sunday night.
The reality star and businesswoman took the stage with a glass of champagne in hand. They were first met with applause, saying “thank you” in response. But then the kiss left the cheers behind, and the Kardashians stopped by to take a look. “Okay, okay, okay,” he said with a small laugh.
Offscreen, Hart can be heard saying, “Whoa, whoa.”
The boos subsided, and Kardashian began her jokes.
She noted the rumors that once swirled that she and Brady were dating. “I know there were some rumors that we were, and I will never say whether we did or not,” she said. “I’ll just release a tape.”
She added: “But I know it will never work,” noting that Brady is a former athlete with strong cheekbones and “silky hair.”
“You remind me so much of my stepdad now,” he joked to Caitlyn Jenner. “Oh, part of me thinks you would [date] Me just to try on my clothes. I know the transition from the NFL must have been really hard. But I think my stepfather is a perfect example for you. She is one of the best athletes in the world who proved that you can do anything in this next chapter of your life. You can be an observer or a far-right Republican or even a strong confident woman.
He added: “Honestly, it’s hard for me to see people roasting you. But I think a lot of my family members have helped defend former football players,” she said of her late father, Robert Kardashian, who was on OJ Simpson’s defense team during the latter’s murder trial.
When Brady took the stage later, he made a quick comment about Kardashian’s ex-husband Kanye West.
“Thank you so much for being here,” she told him. “I know Kim was nervous to be here tonight. Not because of him, but because his kids are home with their dad.
It was part of the Netflix Is a Joke Fest, aired live, in what Netflix described as the first roast to be televised live without editing. The festival was held at LAK’s Kia Forum in Inglewood.
