A brand new poll shows Kate Middleton has overtaken her husband, Prince William, as the most popular member of the British royal family after making an emotional announcement that she was affected by cancer.
In a pre-recorded clip shared on March 22, the Princess of Wales revealed her health problems to the world, saying that doctors discovered she had cancer during a planned abdominal surgery in January.
According to British YouGov pollMiddleton, 42, became the country’s most preferred member of the royal family between February and April this yr.
Back in February, before the world learned of her diagnosis, the Prince of Wales had a solid 77% rating as the most liked member of the British royal family, together with his wife coming in close behind with 74%.
However, in early April, the mother-of-three’s rankings shot up in the days after the shock announcement that she had cancer, boosting her popularity to 76% while William’s dropped to 73%.
What’s more, the third most favorite person amongst the royal family is William’s aunt, Princess Anne, who is thought for willingly taking up the task when the going gets tough.
Anne, the royal princess, is liked by 71% of the British population, which proves how popular she is.
In fourth place is King Charles III, who’s currently fighting cancer.
The 75-year-old monarch has 63% popularity in his home country, while his younger brother, Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, has 54%.
She is followed by the king’s wife, Queen Camilla, with a rating of 50%.
As for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – the runaway royals – the couple’s popularity appears to have dropped shortly after they closed the door on royal life in 2020.
The Duke of Sussex’s popularity is at 31%, with the “Suits” alum’s approval rating close behind at 26%.
Still, the couple ranks well above scandal-plagued Prince Andrew, whose dismal rating puts him in last place with just 6%.
The Duke of York has been consistently at the bottom since his alleged friendship with convicted pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein got here to light.
For her part, Duchess Kate noted in her announcement last month that she is currently undergoing a “course of preventive chemotherapy” in the early stages.
It is known that Middleton decided to share the news with the world on that exact day, before her three children William, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, left school for the Easter break.

While the Queen undergoes treatment, her parents, Michael, 74, and Carole Middleton, 69, are stepping in to support their grandchildren during this tense time.
