Nottingham Forest can be given the opportunity to privately listen to VAR audio from three penalty claims of their match against Everton last Sunday.
On Monday, the club requested audio between video assistant referee Stuart Attwell and on-field official Anthony Taylor. Be released publicly.
There was anger in the jungle after three penalty appeals were rejected 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park, That kept them only one point above the Premier League relegation zone.
The decisions sparked an indignant post on the club’s X account, where Forest said they were “considering their options” over the “extremely poor” referee’s decisions.
It is known that the refereeing body Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) will allow the club to listen to the audio privately, as it could with every other club making the same request.
No decision has yet been made on whether the audio can be featured in the next edition of ‘Match Officials Micked Up’, a Premier League production program that analyzes VAR decisions from previous games, which can be played next. It can be aired on Tuesday evening.
In a press release released on Monday afternoon, Forest said of the audio: “The club has requested it be shared for three key match incidents – Ashley Young’s challenge on Giovanni Reina (24th minute); Ashley Young’s handball (44th minute) and Ashley Young’s challenge on Callum Hudson-Odoi (56th minute).
“We strongly advocate for the wider football community and supporters to have access to the audio and transcript for full transparency, ensuring that the integrity of our game is maintained.”
It follows A similar request from Liverpool When Luis Diaz’s goal was wrongly disallowed in a 2-1 defeat at Tottenham in September.
The PGMOL believes this was an extreme case since it was a factual error, with officials mistakenly calling the fallacious on-field decision about Diaz offside, when it must have been overturned.
