Jon Bon Jovi has opened up about his marriage to wife Dorothea – admitting he hasn’t always been a “saint” during their relationship.
The “Livin’ on a Prayer” hitmaker, 62, and his wife are preparing to celebrate their 35th anniversary next week, but the rocker admits he wouldn’t have made it to the milestone if it hadn’t been for Dorothea’s “tolerance”. Couldn’t reach.
“These are all wonderful clichés of rock stardom,” he told The Independent. “It’s about never lying about being a saint, but about not being stupid enough. [mess] As far as home life, either.”
The couple tied the knot at Graceland Chapel in Las Vegas in 1989, and went on to welcome four children together.
Rocker said the couple’s marriage has stood the test of time thanks to a “mutual admiration society, and fortunately growing up together,” but he also credited a degree of resilience on his part.
In fact, on Bon Jovi’s 1993 hit track “Bed of Roses,” he sadly details his experiences on tour.
Elsewhere, the Grammy winner opened up about another cliché of rock stardom: drugs.
Bon Jovi said he was never interested in taking drugs after an eye-opening experience in his childhood.
“It was smoking laced with something else, and I remember feeling out of body and thinking, ‘I don’t like this. I don’t feel comfortable with this,'” They shared.
“It was scary, and I was so young that I was glad I had a ‘scared’ moment like that.”
Bonjoy also talked about his son Jake Bongiovi’s engagement to actress Millie Bobby Brown.
Admitting that he was not familiar with her work on “Stranger Things”, Rocker admitted his admiration.
“I can’t tell you that I was very familiar with him to be honest, I think it was for another generation, but I admire his work ethic,” he told the outlet.
“Millie is a movie star. We just went to the premiere of ‘Damsel’ with her, and Jake just got his first movie out. I’m happy for him.”
Bongiovi, 21, and Brown, 20, announced their engagement in April 2023 after dating for two years.
“They’re two young people chasing a dream together, so we’re supportive, because of our hope for them — and Millie’s parents’ hope for her, because of Bob and Kelly Brown, too. “Meeting when they were very young is that the kids would grow up together,” Rocker said of the pair.
“Anything after that is beyond the four of us as parental controls, but they’re good kids. They’ll figure it out.”
And while Brown said last year that her famous future father-in-law Will not perform at his wedding.Rocker said he’s not ruling it out entirely.
“You know, I very much doubt his word,” he quipped. “We’ll see! It depends on how much wine I have before I get to the moment where she puts the mic in my face.
