John Stamos has fired back at “shameful” haters who criticized him for wearing a bald cap to support his “Full House” co-star Dave Collier after he was diagnosed with cancer.
Collier confirmed last week that he is undergoing chemotherapy to battle his “very aggressive” stage 3 cancer.
But Stamos’ well-intentioned gesture of donning a bald cap in a photo with the actor, who had lost his hair due to chemo, immediately landed him in hot water.
“I’m so shocked. It’s just embarrassing.” she told TMZ About the backlash he received this week.
“What they should be doing instead of making little videos or making comments is they should be calling their doctor, making an appointment — like that’s the whole point of it,” he added. “That was Dave’s message.”
“I’m embarrassed for people to waste time on this. All I was doing was making a friend happy,” Stamos, 61, added.
Stamos also said the pair, who have been friends since the 1980s, had an “incredible” time together after news of Koller’s ill health emerged.
Collier announced on November 13 that he was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
The father of one is undergoing six rounds of chemo treatment and is expected to finish in February 2025.
Collier, 65, said he learned of his diagnosis five weeks ago when he had a bad cold and noticed swelling in his groin area.
A week after Coulier announced his cancer diagnosis, Stamos Posted an Instagram In which he wears a bald cap while standing next to Collier, who has a shaved head. Stamos said he wore a bald cap and photoshopped himself to show “solidarity” with his friend.
“Nothing like throwing on a bald cap and flexing some photoshop skills to show some love and solidarity with my brother @dcoulier,” she captioned a series of photos earlier this week.
“You’re handling this with such strength and positivity – it’s inspiring. I know you’re going to get through this, and I’m proud to stand by you every step of the way. I love you. “
Needless to say, the gesture of goodwill didn’t go over too well with fans on social media.
Soon after, Collier defended his friend, saying the gesture was simply that “we’re dealing with a very difficult time.”
The duo’s friendship began decades ago when they debuted their roles as Uncle Jesse and Uncle Joey, respectively, on “Full House.”
Stamos was among the first Show support on social media for Collier after the actor’s cancer diagnosis was announced.
“My brother since day 1. Love @dcoulier and I will be with you through it all,” Stamos wrote alongside several photos of the pair over the years.
