John Cena shared his thoughts on the nearly decade-long feud between “Fast & Furious” co-stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson.
While appearing on Dax Shepard’s show Podcast “Fotel Ekspert”.The WWE superstar-turned-Hollywood actor, 46, spoke about rumors surrounding tension between Johnson and Diesel on set.
“There are definitely rumors about it. I can’t deny that,” Cena said. “You have two very determined alpha men. You get two, there can only be one.”
Cena was one in every of the latest additions to the “Fast” universe, joining the forged of “F9: The Fast Saga” in 2021 as Jakob Toretto — the estranged brother of Dom Toretto (Diesel).
Fortunately for Cena, he explained that his days of fighting his ego in WWE prepared him to take care of any drama that may arise.
“Man, remember I got thrown into the locker room where [we have] generational veterans,” said the five-time WWE champion.
“What did your dad do?” “Wrestling.” “What did your grandfather do?” “Wrestling”. stayed on this environment; I do know the room and I just adapt to what is going on on.”
Cena referred to the actor’s professionalism and respect for the “Fast” series.
“I am invited to someone’s house, to someone’s family. And regardless of what they look like physically compared to another human being, this is one movie that had nine parts and it’s an action movie – it’s a sophisticated vibe,” Cena explained. “At least you have to respect that.”
Not wanting to ruffle feathers further in discussing the feud, Cena told Shepard that he was simply grateful to be an element of such a beloved franchise.
“I’m not trying to get a sandbox. It’s none of my business,” he said. “I am grateful for what you have given me. I just want to be the best fire truck I can.”
Rumors of a feud between the 2 motion stars began circulating when Johnson, 51, joined the “Fast Five” film franchise in 2011 as Luke Hobbs, Diesel’s adversary.
Their mutual dislike escalated in 2016 when Johnson referred to his “male costars” from the TV series “Fast” in a now-deleted Instagram post.
It was reported that Diesel, 56, and Johnson didn’t see one another backstage.
After speculation emerged that Johnson was referring to Diesel, he said Men’s health in 2021 that their hostility was solely as a result of his desire to maximise their on-screen character dynamics.
“It was difficult to portray Hobbs,” Diesel told the portal.
“My approach at the moment was based on a variety of love and a desire to assist get an excellent performance where it was needed. As the producer said: “OK, we’ll take Dwayne Johnson, who is associated with wrestling, and we will force this movie world, the audience, to think of his character as someone they don’t know.”
The rumors intensified much more when Johnson announced in 2021 that he can be leaving the blockbuster franchise.
Even though Johnson said he was done with the “Fast” universe, he delighted fans when he appeared mid-credits as Luke Hobbs in “Fast X” and the 2 apparently called it quits.
“Last summer, Vin and I put all the past behind us,” Johnson sent on X after “Fast X” hit theaters.
“We will lead with a spirit of brotherhood and determination and will always care for the franchise, the characters and the FANS we love.”
