Jim Carrey’s sister Rita has died, according to her husband of 16 years, Alex.
He posted the sad news. On Facebook Writing on Friday, the radio personality died on Thursday.
“It’s together [a] With a heavy heart and my deepest sorrow, Rita passed away peacefully and quietly on November 14, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends,” her message began.
He started talking about their relationship.
“Rita and I (Alex) have been together for 16 years and we got married in July last year in an outdoor wedding which is what she always wanted,” he explained before talking about his travels around the world. of
Alex called Rita his “best friend, my lover and my beautiful wife”.
“Rita always had a loving spirit and wanted to help everyone, even strangers. As everyone knows Christmas was Rita’s favorite holiday, in fact it was an everyday holiday for her and she Started fundraising to support a local charity.
“Both family and friends are invited to attend a candlelight vigil in memory of Rita on 7 December 2024 at Heathcote Terrace in St Catharines,” he added.
“After the vigil everyone is encouraged to attend the Christmas on the Terrace public event in support of Gillian’s Place. Donations in Rita’s memory can be made directly to Gillian’s Place or at the event when Non-perishable food, baby clothes, toiletries or unwrapped baby gifts are encouraged.
In a nod to his partner of more than a decade, Alex continued, “It’s been a wonderful and crazy journey with Rita.”
Not only did she “fill everyone’s heart with joy with every step she took,” he said, but Alex will never forget this beautiful and incredibly talented woman. Goodbye my love. Goodbye my friend. until we meet again You truly had the time of your life.
“Your best friend and husband, Alex,” Alex signed off.

Rita was born in Canada to parents Kathleen and Percy. Carrie was one of four children, including Jim, John and Patricia.
Rita worked as a radio host and public speaker for many years. He also performed in a classic rock group called the Rita Carey Band.
Brian Salmon, Rita’s former radio co-host on 91.7 Giant FM, also paid tribute, describing Rita as a very generous person. TMZ.
Salmon recalled that Rita rarely talked about her Hollywood connections but often collected props from Carrey’s films to be auctioned off for charity.
