An unboxing video shared on YouTube last week gives us our first hands-on look at Anker’s new 140W wall charger. This appears to be the company’s first model to feature an integrated display showing the amount of power drawn from each of the four USB ports.
Earlier this month, user joshuadwx shared details and a leaked photo of the charger on the Anker subreddit. According to reports, the Zolo wall charger will offer a maximum output power of 140W split between three USB-C ports and one USB-A port. Two of the USB-C ports will be able to charge devices at up to 140W if nothing else is connected, while the remaining USB-C and USB-A ports will be able to provide power of 40W and 33W respectively.
The added screen weighs 350 grams, making the charger heavier than the company’s existing four-port chargers, such as the smaller Anker 747 (GaNPrime 150W) charger, which also provides more power.
The nine-minute unboxing video shared by Xiao Li TV apparently confirms several of the charger’s features, including the 140W total power delivered, the foldable pins, the Zolo logo, the power output of each port, and that a cute sleeping face will appear on the screen when it’s not charging no power.
The video also confirms that all USB ports are on the downward-facing side of the Zolo. Anker has previously addressed issues with heavy chargers having difficulty staying plugged into wall outlets, releasing redesigned versions with a center of gravity closer to the wall and textured lugs for greater grip.
Moving the ports to the bottom of this charger is potentially another way to reduce the risk of it falling out of the socket on its own.
There’s still no word on Anker’s planned price for the Zolo Charger or its launch date globally or in the US, although a leaked video seems to indicate it could debut soon.
