Calling all Ice Age fans!
The animated film franchise is returning with a new sequel, according to cast members Ray Romano, Queen Latifah and John Leguizamo, who announced the news on Friday. The actors, who have lent their voices to previous films in the franchise, revealed in a video shown at D23 Brazil that Disney is in the works.
In the clip, which was shared on Disney’s social media accounts, Romano is shown shivering in winter clothes and a blanket as he says “Ray Romano here with some big news! Wow, it’s cold here.” Is the AC broken or something else?”
The video points to Latifah, who calls Romano and says, “Hey Ray, ready to make the big announcement? I see you got my present. I thought it was Gonna be fun,” as snow begins to fall on the soundstage. Then Romano revealed that it’s “coming to theaters.”
Leguizamo closed the video saying, “The herd’s back, baby! I gotta call everybody I know.”
Romano will reprise his role as the woolly mammoth Manny with Leguizamo appearing as the ground sloth Sid and Latifah voicing the woolly mammoth Ellie. Dennis Leary and Simon Pegg are also returning for the sequel, which is currently in production.
It will be the first movie in the series to hit theaters since Disney bought 21st Century Fox’s film and television assets, including the rights to the franchise, in 2019. To box office mojo.
Various films and series featuring prehistoric animals have been released over the years, including a 2022 spin-off and a Disney+ series. Disney has yet to share an official release date.
