Hoda Kotb is bidding farewell to the “Today” show after 26 years. The anchor revealed on Thursday that she will remain with the NBC program until January 1, 2025.
Kotb was joined by her co-hosts as she announced the tearful news, including Savannah Guthrie, Al Rooker, Jenna Bush Hager, Craig Malone and Shanelle Jones.

“As I write this, my heart is all over the map,” she wrote. “I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a pain. And you’re all the reason. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I feel so deeply right now. I do. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show.
“My time at NBC has been the longest professional love affair of my life,” he continued. “But only because you’ve been with me on this twenty-six-year adventure. Looking back, the math has fallen. Kotb has played roles on the network over the years. He previously worked with Kathie Lee Gifford on “Dateline” and the fourth hour of “Today.” She and Hagar have been working together since the premiere of “Today with Hoda & Jenna” on April 8, 2019.
Although she is exiting “Today,” she will continue to work with the network in some capacity in the future. However, these details are yet to be revealed.
“With joy and gratitude, I plan to remain a part of the NBC family, the longest working relationship I have been fortunate enough to hold close to my heart,” she concluded her letter. “I’ll be around. How could I not? Family is family and you all will always be a part of me.”
