Even though the future of DC comic book movies is already heading in a brand new direction, there are still numerous movies that must be released – and the crown jewel is Ezra Miller’s film Flash. Hailed as “one of the greatest superhero movies ever made” by recent DC boss James Gunn, the film is directed by Andy Muschietti (This) is DC’s version of a multiverse film that pits Barry Allen (Miller) against several different versions of iconic DC heroes, comparable to Michael Keaton’s 1989 Batman. Flash is a loose adaptation of a series of event comics, Flash-point. Written by Geoff Johns with illustrations by Andy Kubert, the plot centers on Barry creating one other universe where his Justice League peers Aquaman and Wonder Woman are at war, Bruce Wayne’s father Thomas becomes Batman as an alternative , and Superman is captured by the federal government and held in an underground bunker away from sunlight.
The Super Bowl dropped its long-awaited trailer, which gave us our first good look at the whole plot and offered loads of details to peruse, so we’re breaking all of it all the way down to offer you context on what you could have missed while watching Rihanna excited.
Here we see Barry atop Keaton’s Wayne Manor while the OG Batman gives voice to what the speedster can do along with his powers – specifically the flexibility to travel so fast that he can move through time and universes as we’re treated to through a glimpse of Keaton’s cowl and suit on the bloody floor, before cutting to Ben Affleck’s Batman at the mention of “another universe.”
