Harry Styles’ fans are flocking to his hometown within the UK, hoping it can be “like it was” when the 30-year-old star was growing up.
Over the past 12 months, greater than 5,000 admirers – generally known as “Harries” – have visited Holmes Chapel in England, walking through One Direction to achieve all of the places the singer often visited.
Leaders of the quaint Cheshire village northwest of London have encouraged an influx of tourists by making a map – which ticket officers on the local train station hand out freed from charge – marking out a 3-mile tour of the pop star’s favorite local haunts.
To boost tourism, local officials have announced plans to rent teenage guides to point out fans around attractions akin to the bakery where Styles worked as a teen and the Chinese restaurant where he once brought Taylor Swift.
“We intend to launch official tours of Harry’s home village on Saturday mornings in June and on weekdays in July, August and September. We will be recruiting Harry Styles fans aged 16 and up to act as local guides” – Peter Whiers, CEO of Holmes Chapel Collaboration, confirmed in SWNS.
Applicants will probably be chosen based on their real interest within the village, its history and connection to Styles, in addition to their excellent communication and storytelling skills.
The demand for tour guides is predicted to be so great that town will host a half-day assessment session on April 20 with the goal of recruiting as much as 16 teen guides to begin this system.
The route takes Harries through the singer’s former home, his old style and Mandeville’s bakery – which encompasses a life-size poster of Styles from when he worked there on weekends – and ends on the railway bridge where he had his first kiss.
The wall at the bottom of the viaduct became a memorial to fans who showered the realm with messages and signatures – just because the star did within the One Direction biopic “This is Us.”
Whiers said Harry Styles’ walking map resulted in an “incredible year” with businesses seizing the chance to cater to the influx of tourists. The city hopes the teenager guides will provide encouragement for an additional great 12 months.
The city also plans to publish an updated walking map showing where you should buy Holmes Chapel souvenirs, gifts, food and drinks.
“Even the worst of the winter months couldn’t stop them from crossing muddy banks and wet fields to pay their respects at Harry’s Wall by the Viaduct,” Whiers said of the fans.
“We believe it is time for Holmes Chapel to expand its offerings to young guests and ensure they return home with an unforgettable experience in Harry’s Village,” he added.
