Lonely Gene Hackman returns.
After retiring in 2004, Hackman, 94, remained out of the highlight.
In recent photos obtained by The Post, the retired Oscar winner was spotted walking wearing a baseball cap, vest and flannel shirt in Santa Fe, New Mexico on April 5.
The “Mississippi Burning” and “Bonnie and Clyde” star looked sporty and outdoorsy, as he did during a recent public outing together with his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 62, on March 28.
The actor has lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico because the Nineteen Eighties.
In 1992, he married pianist Arakawa, but he isn’t seen together with her in public.
She is his second wife, after Faye Maltese, from whom he divorced in 1986, and has three children.
Hackman gavein an interview with Larry King in 2004 where he revealed that he rarely gives interviews because: “I don’t like to talk about myself too much. I don’t know. It’s like watching yourself in a movie, it makes me feel uncomfortable. I love acting. I love this part.”
The French Connection star added: “When I do it, I’m just in awe. But once I see myself on the screen, it’s like – I see my grandfather there or something, you understand? I understand – you understand, I feel of myself as 21 years old. You too, I do know. Yes. But if you see yourself, it’s a completely different story.
During a 2004 interview with Larry King, Hackman, who spent 4 years within the Marines before turning to Hollywood, said he got into the service through his mother.
“I used to be very fascinated by the origins of James Cagney, Errol Flynn and Edward G. Robinson and people sorts of movies. He was very concerned about this. “My mom and I were at the movies one time and we walked out the hall and she said, ‘I want to see you do that sometime,'” he explained.
“And that was all it took. Because I already desired to do it. But someone has to inform you, otherwise you will have to be pushed a little bit. And that is the only thing she ever told me about acting. Did she want me to do that?
He also announced his retirement from acting, saying, “I guess it’s over.”
He added: “I try to take care of myself. I don’t have many concerns. I have a normal fear of death. You know, I think we all think about it, especially when you reach a certain age. I want to make sure my wife and my family are taken care of. Other than that, I don’t have too many concerns.”
The “Birdcage” star further stated: Interview with GQ from 2011 that he could be open to creating one other film: “If I could do it in my own home, without disturbing anything and just one or two people.”
He told the portal that he would really like to be remembered as a “decent actor.”
“As a person who tried to honestly present what was given to her. I don’t know, other than that. Honestly, I don’t think about it often,” he continued at the time. “I’m at the age where I should be thinking about it.”
After retiring, the star of “The Royal Tenenbaums” wrote several novels, including: thriller “The Chase” from 2013.
Hackman told the late King: “Warren Beatty is a star. You know, Robert Redford is a star. Brad Pitt. I never consider myself that way…” however, he added that “I actually have only a few regrets in the case of my profession.”
