Erik ten Hag spoke to Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho after the winger liked posts on social media criticizing the manager’s treatment of the player.
The Argentine, who left the pitch at half-time in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, liked two messages on X (formerly Twitter) from YouTuber Mark Goldbridge.
One of them reads: ‘Ten Hag subtly blames Garnacho in the post-match press conference… It didn’t look good throwing under the bus a 19-year-old who has actually performed well on the pitch this season. But alternatively, he’s clearly afraid of upsetting the very best earners.”
The second said Garnacho “had a nasty first half but took him off at half-time and kept him because the issue was a joke.”
Garnacho was quick to “dislike” each messages – the club said it was an expression of remorse – and a United source told the PA news agency the matter was being handled internally.
In September, Jadon Sancho’s post on the web site was not featured on the pitch – leading to the 24-year-old being kicked out of the starting lineup before he was loaned to Borussia Dortmund in January.
