Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez might be suspended for the primary leg of his side’s Conference League semi-final against Olympiacos.
Martinez received two yellow cards in Thursday’s European Conference League quarter-final second leg against Lille but was not sent off.
Martinez, who was initially shown a yellow card in the thirty ninth minute, received a second yellow card for his good attitude throughout the penalty shootout. He was also booked in the primary match.
Despite not being sent off, UEFA confirmed the suspension on Friday, stating that Martinez received three yellow cards in the quarter-final against Lille.
Villa will host the Greek team on May 2 at Villa Park, with the return leg every week later in Piraeus.

Lee Hendrie was stunned when Emi Martinez received a second yellow card during Aston Villa’s penalty shootout against Lille but was not sent off. The Argentine then put Villa through by saving the hosts’ final penalty.
“Martinez defended against Andre with his legs. It wasn’t the best penalty. The most important players appeared at the most important moments. The fans couldn’t stop him.
“At the end he gave them a Ricky Gervais dance. I’m excited about the club and Martinez. It’s a way to silence the crowd.”
