Roma confirmed that manager Daniele de Rossi will remain in his position beyond the end of the season.
De Rossi (40) was appointed Jose Mourinho’s successor in January on a contract valid until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
Under De Rossi’s leadership, Roma climbed from ninth to fifth place in Serie A after: a series of seven matches without defeat.
Club owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin praised De Rossi’s “positive impact.”
“Following our meeting with Daniele De Rossi, we are happy to announce that he will continue to serve as head coach of AS Roma beyond this season and for the foreseeable future,” read an announcement from the club.
“Daniele leads with respect and courage, and his strength and deep-rooted belief in the club are truly in line with the values of Roma, the city and its unrivaled fans.”
Roma, led by De Rossi, also reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League and has a 1-0 advantage before Thursday’s return match at home against AC Milan.
De Rossi made 616 appearances for Roma between 2001 and 2019, winning the Coppa Italia twice.
The Italian club didn’t provide any details on the length of De Rossi’s contract.
