In a ___ A preview of his conversation with Willie Geist Chris Pine looks back on how much his role in Anne Hathaway’s Love has affected his career.
Pine recalls the exact moment he got the life-changing call that he had been cast as Nicolas Devereux. He was on the freeway, driving the 1972 BMW she’d owned since she was 16, at a time in her life when she’d only booked small TV roles.
“I got a call from my agent saying I’d booked the job, and I drove to the freeway, and they said, ‘You’re paying $65,000,'” the actor said. ‘” said the actor. “It was like they told me I was going to make $15 million.”
Pine shared that getting the call was “absolutely earth-shattering” because he was struggling financially. “I had an overdraft on my bank account. It was like over $400. I had to ask my parents for money, and then I got that 65,” she said.
“I remember knowing clearly in that moment that my life had somehow changed,” Pine continued, “even though at the end of the day $65 turned out to be like $15,000.”
“And I owed my parents rent money,” he added. “But it’s a wild feeling. I’ll never forget it.”
While it was Pine’s first major role, which led to her being cast two years later as the lead in a 2006 rom-com starring Lindsay Lohan, Pine didn’t get her big break until then. In the JJ Abrams-directed reboot, Pine takes over William Shatner’s role as Captain Kirk.
Two decades later, he may be reunited with Mia Thermopolis. In 2022, it was announced that a third film was in the works at Disney. Pine has expressed his desire to reprise his role as Nicholas, stating in 2023, “I’m up for it. Give me a phone call or an email.”
However, as Julie Andrews, her production has not progressed Told in March that “there was some dialogue about it” but “nothing was achieved.”
