Nicola Coughlin, who will take center stage in Season 3 of Netflix’s steamy hit “Bridgerton,” clapped back at an online troll.
After the “Derry Girls” actress, 37, posted a video And Pictures With her co-star Luke Newton, 31, wearing a bra top with a blazer on Instagram, one troll in the comments asked, “Why is she in her bra?”
Coughlin took to his Instagram Stories to respond. Posting a photo of herself in the dress with a plunging neckline, Coughlin replied, “Because it looked good.”
Although Coughlan has been with “Bridgerton” since the steamy Shonda Rhimes historical drama premiered in 2020, the upcoming third season will mark her first time leading the way — and starring in the show’s notoriously steamy scenes.
Each season is based on a novel by Julia Quinn, and follows a different couple in love in 1800s London.
After Season 1 saw Daphne Bergerton (Phoebe Dinor) find love with the Duke of Hastings (Ridge Jean Page), Season 2 followed Anthony Bergerton’s (Jonathan Bailey) romance with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), and Season 3 will follow Penelope (Coughlin). Finding Love with Colin Bergerton (Newton)
During the season 2 finale, Penelope overhears her longtime lover, Colin, announce that he will never marry her.
Season 3 will begin with her abandoning Colin and beginning her search for a husband.
Earlier this month, Coughlin revealed that he had ordered a PG version of the upcoming season so he could watch it with his family.
“It’s literally written into my contract,” Coughlin said SiriusXM Hits 1. “People think I mean it as a joke. I just don’t. I grew up Irish Catholic. That’s not how we vibe.

Newton revealed that he would not even watch the second episode with his mother. Coughlin agreed, “No, I wouldn’t.”
Coughlin explained that she usually fast-forwards through any steamy scenes when she watches with the family.
“Yeah, it would be like, ‘Oh, that was a big thing that we missed,'” he noted. “But, even in Season 1, I stopped talking to my mom. She was like, “That episode was short,” and I was like, “That was a short episode. It was a short one. Yes. ’â€
In a separate interview, he also said that he thinks season 3 is the most romantic season.
“I always look at three seasons like that. I think season 1 was about passion, season 2 was about longing and season 3, I think it’s all about romance, that Told people. “It’s just so romantic. There were so many moments on set where we filmed something and we turned around and everyone was holding their chests like, ‘Oh my God.’ It was that kind of love.”
“It’s really special and it stays very true to the books,” he added. “We had a great time filming it and it’s definitely one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.”
Season 3 of “Bridgerton” will consist of 8 episodes. The first batch will premiere on Netflix on May 16 and the second batch on June 13.
