Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone predicts a “great evening in the Champions League” in Tuesday’s quarter-final second leg against Borussia Dortmund.
Atleti won at home 2-1 because of goals by Rodrigo de Paul and Samuel Lino, and Sebastien Haller withdrew from the match injured in the second leg.
“There’s not much that needs to be said to the players about the possibility of being among the four best teams in Europe,” Simeone said.
“The team is in good shape.”
The German hosts are bidding for his or her first Champions League semi-final in 11 years, while Atletico has not played there for seven years.
Dortmund coach Edin Terzic hopes a sold-out 81,500-capacity Westfalenstadion could make a difference.
“Is special. It regularly sells out and has helped us countless times over the years,” he said.
“We need a good result against Atletico and we are almost sure that our fans want that to happen and create a good atmosphere.
– That’s why we wish to repay them.
