One thing is “crystal” clear: Harry Burns’ iconic sweater has been lost to the ages.
Billy Crystal has revealed that he no longer has his character’s iconic chunky white knit from the 1989 rom-com “When Harry Met Sally.”
“I’ve got a lot,” the 76-year-old said people “I’m a clothes horse. I don’t have that sweater, and I’ve had it for years, from ‘Harry and Sally’ — the real one,” he said Saturday after being asked if he still had the clothes from the movie.
As for where Crystal thinks the sweater might be? He admitted: “I donated.”
“I believe it was with UCLA’s theater department that had a lot of clothes for the costumes,” the comedian continued. “I have a feeling it’s there. I’ve racked my brain as I’ve seen other people — you see them on social media wearing sweaters, posing with that scene. I wish I had That would have been a sweater […].â€
Fans reacted to the news on social media saying that a beloved piece of cinema history has disappeared.

As one of the most acclaimed romantic comedies of all time, “When Harry Met Sally” follows the story of two friends who finally romance each other 12 years after they first met.
In September, the actor took a moment to talk about another aspect of the film: where he and Ryan’s beloved characters would be today.
Crystal spoke to E! ahead of the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards. spoke with Red Carpet host Laverne Cox, telling the host: “He’s going to be talking about downsizing. He’s not ready to go on assisted living yet.
“But they’re still romantic, still in love,” he added.
And, 35 years after the film’s opening, Crystal thinks Harry and Sally are also “probably having a good time with their grandchildren and finding new ways to be with each other.”
The Emmy winner also spoke about the project’s relevance to audiences over the years.
