Cassandra Freeman (Bel Air), Taka Sumpter (Sonic the Hedgehog) and Michaela Watkins (Thanks Shiring) Joins the “Gina and Friends” program at the upcoming Bentonville Film Festival in Arkansas.
The program was led and moderated by Gina Davis. The Hollywood Reporter Contributing editor Stacey Wilson-Hunt takes a unique spin on traditional comics by reimagining them with an all-female or gender-nonconforming cast. The event will be held on June 14 at the Thaddon Theater in Bentonville.
“I’m thrilled to lead a program that reimagines an all-male film narrative with an all-female/gender-nonconforming cast, creating great comedy,” said Davis. “This is an incredible opportunity to showcase the power of storytelling through laughter and friendship. Working with talented people like Cassandra Freeman, Tika Sumpter and Michaela Watkins is truly inspiring. I look forward to this unique and transformative experience for everyone. Looking forward to sharing with you.”
Additional events and spotlight screenings are scheduled to take place throughout the duration of the festival, the Bentonville Film Foundation announced Thursday. The 10th edition of the event, founded and chaired by Davis, runs from June 10-16.
