Jurgen Klopp has welcomed Arne Slott’s announcement that he wants to replace him as Liverpool manager, saying he is impressed by the football the Feyenoord manager plays and his desire to get the job.
Liverpool have held talks with the 45-year-old Dutch Cup winners and Slott has expressed his eagerness to move to Anfield, while also expressing confidence that a deal can be agreed.
Klopp believes his replacement will get “the best job in the world” and was encouraged by the Dutchman’s desperation to move to Liverpool, saying mutual acquaintances have spoken highly of the slot.
The German said: “I’m not involved in the process, just to be clear. What I love about him is, if he’s the one, he wants to take the job. He’s desperate. ‘Come on, this. Very excited to go.’
“I love the way his team plays football. All the things I hear about him as a man, a good man. Some people I know, know him, I still know him. Don’t know. Some people tell me he’s a really nice guy. I like him a lot.
“Good coach, good man. I’m looking forward to the club if it’s a solution or a man. I’m more than happy. It’s not up to me to decide these things but it all feels really good to me.
“It’s the best job in the world, the best club in the world, the best job in the world. Obviously now I help by not finishing on a high, it seems. There’s room for improvement. Great job, great team, fantastic. People. He’ll do ‘really, really interesting stuff’.
Klopp said Liverpool’s Merseyside derby defeat to Everton on Wednesday left him as angry as ever.
He explained: “I can’t remember ever being as disappointed and disappointed as I was after the Everton game, I’ve lost a lot of games in my life but it’s special that we weren’t there. ”
Liverpool, who face West Ham on Saturday, are now third and Klopp believes that privately Arsenal and Manchester City will believe they are out of title contention.
He added: “I can’t say I think they still feel around us, I’m pretty sure Arsenal and City now see it as a two-horse race, they’ve been publicly There’s more to say, but I don’t expect them to lose two games.”
