Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s public legal battle has intensified, with recent court documents accusing Pitt of physically abusing the actor before their 2016 split.
The Fight club the star sued Jolie in February 2022 after she sold her shares in the French winery Château Miraval. The first couple bought a controlling share of the 1,200-acre property in 2008 and, based on Pitt, agreed to not sell their share without the other party’s consent.
On April 4, Jolie filed a motion in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming that she had offered to sell her shares to Pitt. However, negotiations fell apart after he insisted Criminal Star signed a non-disclosure agreement prohibiting her from “talking (outside of court) about Pitt’s exploitation of Jolie and their children by attempting to link Pitt’s personal reputation to Miraval’s business interests.”
The lawsuit said Pitt’s alleged physical abuse of Jolie began long before the infamous 2016 plane confrontation and that Jolie would support her claims with “testimony, emails, photos and other evidence.”

Whenever a decision is made that conflicts with the other party, that party consistently chooses to introduce misleading, inaccurate and/or irrelevant information in order to divert attention.
“There was a long custody trial that covered the entire history of their relationship, and the judge who heard all the evidence still awarded him 50/50 custody.”

Pitt and Jolie’s plane confrontation
Pitt and Jolie met in 2004 on the set of the series Mr. and Mrs. Smiththrough which the actor allegedly left his then-wife, Friends icon Jennifer Aniston to be together with her friend.
Jolie had already adopted two children, Maddox Chivan and Zahara, when she and Pitt had their first biological child, Shiloh, in 2006. The couple later adopted a son, Pax, and their twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, were born in 2008. .
Pitt and Jolie married in 2014, but cracks soon began appearing in the relationship. According to the FBI report, after an argument on a personal jet in September 2016, Pitt “grabbed Jolie by the head,” shook it and repeatedly punched the “ceiling of the plane.”

Details of the incident were kept secret until 2022, when the FBI report was released as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. A later complaint filed by Jolie accused Pitt of “strangling one of the children” and punching “the other in the face.”
At the time, Pitt’s representatives denied the claims, calling them “completely untrue.” No criminal charges were brought against him World War Z star, but Jolie filed for divorce a number of weeks after the plane incident.
Pitt child abuse investigation
After the alleged plane incident, the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services launched an investigation into Pitt. He was cleared of the charges in November 2016.

In a lawsuit filed in June 2023, Pitt’s legal team called Jolie’s sale of her stake in the vineyard a “vindictive” move following an “unfavorable child custody ruling.”
