Andy Roddick has reacted to the suggestion that he is aligned with the politics of Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.
Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, used “Make America Great Again” as his campaign slogan while successfully running for his first term in the White House in 2016.
MAGA has since been used to describe a movement of voters and political pundits to express their unwavering support for Trump. On social media, many users have taken to adding “MAGA” to their display names.
Retired tennis player S. Roddick, who has been publicly critical of Trump in the past, found himself declaring himself a part of the MAGA movement on Sunday, when he shared a post on social media in which he called for rights. Expressed regret for tolerating squatters.
“Property rights squatters are one of the craziest things to exist IMO,” Roddick wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “[How’s] Will someone get arrested for changing the locks at their place? Always wanting to know why I’m wrong. Educate me.”
Although he didn’t specify what prompted his comments, Roddick’s post came days after it was widely reported that squatter Sang Kim had failed to pay landlord Jaskaran Singh rent for two years. was foreclosed from his $2 million Washington home after refusing to
Singh, a landlord in Bellevue, held a second protest rally on Saturday after Kim stayed in his rental property for two years without paying rent. Riley demanded that Kim leave the property immediately.
While Singh legally owns the house, he is forced to stay off the premises due to a temporary protection order filed by Kim. That means he must legally stay 1,000 feet away from his property.
Roddick’s post sparked a spirited debate among X users as they weighed in with Roddick’s point of view agreeing with the tech and speaking out against it.
An X user responded by telling Roddick that in his state, “the law ‘allows a person to obtain legal title to an abandoned property if he or she has openly, continuously and exclusively occupied the property for 20 years.’ Occupies’ while NYC is 30 days.”
“30 days is ridiculous. Terrible policy,” Roddick wrote back, later adding that he was “also seeing that maybe it’s not the original policy.”
During the debate, NBA analyst Mike Gerasimo weighed in commenting: “MAGA Roddick.”
“Are you serious?” Roddick responded, as a host of X users suggested the comment was, perhaps, tongue-in-cheek.
Roddick has been an outspoken critic of Trump on several occasions. In October, the former athlete commented on video footage shared on X that showed the former president describing military officials as “some of the dumbest people I’ve ever spent my life dealing with” during a rally in Iowa. I’ve ever met.”
“I’m old enough to remember the comeback when it didn’t go so well. [with] Most of the country,” Roddick reacted in one. Since deleted post. “I also remember when convictions for federal indictments, charity fraud, business fraud, and sexual assault were disqualifying. What are we doing? And why?”
Correcting her statement in a follow-up post, Roddick apologized as she said: “I kept being told he wasn’t convicted of sexual assault, just found guilty of sexual assault. So it’s all good. …”
Trump was ordered in January to pay the former $83.3 million. Ale for damaging the reputation of columnist E. Jean Carroll after accusing him of sexually assaulting her during an incident in the 1990s. In May 2023, a separate jury awarded Carroll $5 million for sexual assault and defamation against Trump. Trump has denied any wrongdoing in the cases and vowed to appeal them.
Last October, Roddick also spoke. Against Trump’s son, Eric Trump, after he repeated his father’s baseless claims in an interview that the 2020 election was rigged after losing to President Joe Biden.
“So let’s assume it’s true. That means Sleepy Joe beat out the current President of the United States who is also a great business genius without the powers of government,” Roddick wrote on social media. “All this without proving it in court. Either Biden is a political ninja or Trump loses the election…. pick a side. Can’t have both.”
“It would also mean that your father acted in this situation,” Roddick added. “Outsmarted, out executed, outworked. By someone 3 years older than someone who is older. Or [Barack] Obama or [George] Soros or the Deep State or whoever. You lose the right to call them idiots if they educate you on an unprecedented scale. Did Joe Biden steal the election and whatever infrastructure he had to build? As for the competition, what would it say about Trump if this is true? Focus.”
