Amazon is moving into the world of tennis.
With the debut of its Roger Federer doc coming this month, the retailer-streamer has ordered a new installment of the franchise that will explore the world of junior tennis.
will follow four junior tennis players as they enter the Orange Bowl, a competition that could break our careers as tennis professionals. The four-episode series counts 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens as one of its executive producers.
The series is from Uninterrupted and LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s Spring Hill company, with Jamal Henderson, Philip Byrne, Wendy Goldberg and showrunner Nicky Spitzeris also producing.
“After documenting the Sierra Canyon men’s basketball team for four seasons, I am very excited about the opportunity to expand our franchise,” said Byrne, head of unscripted and documentary films at Spring Hill. “Our partnership with the Prime Video team is always a pleasure, and we can’t wait to give audiences a first-hand look at the cut-throat world of junior tennis. Working with Sloane Stephens on the creative side to have the world’s best doubles partner is synonymous with, and we know everyone is going to be ready for Ariana Anasgasti-Perso, Joseph Oyebog Jr., Stephanie Yakov and Stiles Brockett to take the world tennis scene by storm.
Spring Hill’s Uninterrupted banner focuses on giving athletes a platform to share their stories and is growing rapidly as streamers move into sports-related programming. The banner has recently sold documentaries about Jesse Owens and Jim Thorpe to the History Channel and is working on a sequel to the feature, among others.
Debuts on Amazon in 2021. The fourth season of the series premiered earlier this year.
