Silence on the set: The dark side of youngsters’s television co-directors Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz have denied Marc Summers’ claims that he was “ambushed” into appearing on the Investigation Discovery docuseries.
“We communicate clearly with each participant about the nature of our projects,” executives said in a press release Hollywood reporter on Friday.
Their response comes shortly after the primary one Double challenge the host appeared Elvis Duran performancewherein he alleged that when asking him to look, the administrators didn’t reveal the character of the film, which premiered on March 17 and 18 and was widely watched.
“These people called me saying they wanted to do a documentary for Nickelodeon, so I said yes,” he explained.
Summers said that when he was interviewed for the favored documentary series, he commented positively on his time spent on the network, but stated that Quiet on set the administrators “baited him and drew attention to her.”
“They attacked me,” he said. “They never told me what the documentary was actually about. So they showed me a video of something I could not imagine was on Nickelodeon, and I said, “Whoah, let’s stop the tape right there.” What are we doing?'”
He said Quiet on set the team then explained the character of the show — a segment that later revealed allegations from former creator/producer Dan Schneider, who was the showrunner of varied hit shows on the network, in addition to Brian Peck, a former dialogue coach, of sexual assault Drake and Josh star Drake Bell.
Summers decided to go away the production, claiming this was not what he signed up for.
“About six weeks ago I got a call and said, ‘You’re totally out of the program,’ so I went, great,” Summers recalled. “Then they called me about 4 weeks ago and said, ‘Well, you are in it, but just for the primary part since you were talking about positive things about Nickelodeon.’
He continued: “What they didn’t tell me, and what they lied to me about, is that they put another thing in there where they had a camera on me when they were attacking me, so now we have this whole situation about who is unethical.”
Summers also said he “never met” Schneider because “those people came later [Double Dare] and took over” the Nickelodeon studios when his hosting profession got here to an end.
He said the one person he knew who was on the network during Schneider’s time was Kenan Thompson, but “in terms of everything that happened, [mentioned on Quiet on Set] none of these people”, “he has never met any of them”.
Summers’ comments come two days before the premiere Quiet on setbonus fifth episode, Break the silencewhich is able to feature interviews with returning former Nickelodeon stars Bell, Giovanna Samuels and Bryan Christopher Hearne, in addition to a brand new interview with All that graduate Shane Lyons, who will speak for the primary time about his online experiences.
“There is a whole system that is even bigger than our history, and we are really seeing a movement forming about what should happen next in our industry,” Schwartz said recently THR within the impact chat Quiet on set and why they mobilized to quickly produce one other episode.
