No one knows what Adele will do now that her two-year Vegas residency is over — probably least of all Adele.
“I’m going to miss you so much” and “I don’t know when I’m going to perform again,” the singer told her final audience at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum Theater on Saturday night.
“I’m not doing anything else,” she added, per Fan video from the ceremony. “I’m actually freaking myself out about what I’m going to do. I don’t have a fucking plan.”
Adele’s “Weekends with Adele” residency runs from November 2022 to November 2024, with two performances each week. Over the summer, she told fans that she would be taking a break from new music when the residency was over. On Saturday, she said “Of course I’ll be back, the only thing I’m good at is singing. I don’t know when I want to be on the next stage.
In her farewell speech, Adele thanked her 14-year-old son, Angelo, and her partner, sports agent Rich Paul.
“For my son, I chose residency mainly because I hate touring,” the singer tearfully said. “But I chose to move in so I could keep her life normal. And I did. But I also — I wouldn’t change it for the world, but I’m with her on the weekends now. I will stay because obviously he can’t always come. So I love you for being patient with me.”
To Paul, she added: “Thank you for always raising me and making me feel like I can do whatever I want to do. There are times when I’m too tired or I’m too emotional. I’ve fallen asleep … so I appreciate that.”
She then took a moment on stage to say that she was “shut up” at the end of the residency when Celine Dion attended the show in October. “I cried all week. A whole week,” she said (both singers also cried while it was happening). “It was just a full-circle moment for me. Because that’s the only reason I wanted to be here.
