Completed in the late 19th century, the Georgian residence was remodeled in the 1920s, at which point the original stoop was removed, which is why what looks like it should be the front door is up on the second level. Today, much original detailing, including ceiling medallions, crown moldings, fireplace mantels, and stained glass, coexists with all manner of modern comforts and conveniences, such as an integrated sound system, multi-zone air-conditioning and a high-tech security system.

Some years ago, the architecture firm Zaskorski & Associates, along with Hilary Unger of Perianth Interior Design, was engaged to restore the exterior façade and to add a discreet sixth floor to house a new primary suite. The bedroom area is wrapped in custom built-ins and opens to a large terrace, while the bespoke dressing room is lined with built-in wardrobes, and the bathroom offers both a soaking tub and a shower lined with mossy-green tiles.
