The worst repo agent in Los Angeles is back. Rather. Nearly 40 years after its original debut, the 1984 cult classic Repository man is finally getting a proper sequel from original author and director Alex Cox. Diversity informs that the film titled Repo Man 2: Beer Pay, is backed by Buffalo 8 Productions and stars Kiowa Gordon (Emilio Esteves in the original) as Otto. According to Diversity“The film begins with Otto entering his trusty 1967 Chevrolet Malibu to travel through the infinity of time and space. During this time, he aged exactly 90 minutes.
Reciprocal I recently spoke with Alex Cox about an upcoming feature on the site Repository manand while he didn’t mention this sequel, he did discuss his previous attempts to continue the story of Otto and Bud (Harry Dean Stanton). Cox originally planned to release a direct-to-video sequel Otto’s Hawaiian Vacation.
“It was a sequel I wrote in the 90s to do for the 10th anniversary Repository man”, says Cox, confirming this Otto’s Hawaiian Vacation It would star Esteves and Stanton, in addition to Willem Dafoe. They even made a poster of the three actors to assist sell the movie, eh Repository man producer Peter McCarthy took with him on a fundraising tour.
“Peter took it with him to Cannes or some big movie market, trying to raise money,” Cox says.

It’s not clear how Repo-Man 2 may hook up with other stories, but given the detail that Otto has aged just “90 minutes” since the end of the original film, it seems likely that Cox plans to start out over. In other words: Repo-Man 2 appears like recreate.
